Why Use a Council Member?
Mission
The mission of the NAHB 50+ Housing Council (formerly the Seniors Housing Council) is to be:
- The credible voice of the 50+ housing industry
- The major source of research and information for the mature adult housing industry
- A major force in the seniors housing industry by facilitating intra-industry networking and business opportunities.
Council Overview
The NAHB 50+ Housing Council (SHC) is a separate membership organization of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). The SHC operates under the direction of a 21-member Board of Trustees supported by a professional staff of nine.
NAHB established the 50+ Housing Council in 1989 to encourage the adequate supply of economically sound, high quality and professionally managed housing specifically designed to meet the distinct needs of the nation’s growing 50+ population.
The 50+ Housing Council identifies specific problems and serves special needs of NAHB members involved in or interested in becoming involved in all aspects of design, development, finance, ownership, management, marketing, and sales of all types of seniors housing.
The Council carries out this charge by providing member and industry services, including a nationally recognized Building for Boomers & Beyond conference, joint venture education programs, industry research, an industry-specific magazine, regulatory and legislative support, and various recognition programs.
