Assisted Living Communities
his type of housing choice is for individuals who need various levels of
assistance in their day-to-day routines. The assistance levels vary from
community to community, but is typically non-medical, such as food service with
planned daily meals and social activities. There are staffs that are available
24 hours a day, which offer the resident safety, assistance with medication and
housekeeping.
The design of communities and the units themselves do vary, but most will offer
a limited kitchen and one or two bedroom units. It is important to understand
that when considering this type of housing that you and your family must
carefully access the specific needs (medical & social) with the staff of
the prospective community in complete detail in order to determine the best fit
possible. There are some communities that offer separate Alzheimer care units
for “early-stage” residents.
